’N Sync will receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame during a ceremony in Los Angeles on April 30th. Lance Bass tweeted, “How fitting this ceremony will take place on It’s Gonna Be May Day!” It’s unclear if all five members of the band–which also consisted of Justin Timberlake, J.C. Chasez and Chris Kirkpatrick–will attend the ceremony. “It’s Gonna Be May” Day is a nod to ’N Sync’s 2000 single “It’s Gonna Be Me,” in which Justin sings the title in a way that makes it sound like he’s shouting “It’s gonna be May!”
Speaking of Justin Timberlake, he and his wife Jessica Biel have been enjoying cryotherapy dates together in New York City. They stand in subzero tanks for three minutes. The couple burns as many as 800 calories during their sessions. Each session costs $85.
Are Jennifer Aniston and Will Arnett dating? I have heard from more than one source that they have been handing out lately and that Jennifer is in great spirits.
In related news, Jennifer’s pal Courteney Cox and fiancé Johnny McDaid are going to marry in Ireland this June. Ed Sheeran introduced the couple. From what I hear, the wedding will be on the 15th.
Chris Hemsworth was recently photographed taking a nap on a public bench in Tofino, Canada, as he waited for a flight. The 34-year-old Thor star was seen wearing a denim-on-denim ensemble (Canadian tuxedo), using his bag as a pillow and wearing sunglasses and a baseball cap to stay incognito. He also managed to still look better than most dudes who don’t wear denim-on-denim or sleep on benches.
On yesterday’s episode of TODAY, Blake Shelton opened up about how much he enjoys being around his girlfriend Gwen Stefani’s three sons. He said, “I never saw that coming, but it’s so fun. They are [great 0=”kids.”]” He added, “At this point in my life, I kind of had put [having 0=”kids”] as like, ‘Well, that wasn’t meant to be.’ Then all of a sudden it happens–one way or another–and it’s like, ‘Wow, I really missed out on a lot. And so having them around, is you know, I don’t even know how to describe it. It’s so much fun.” Host Hoda Kotb noted, “You love it, huh”. The Voice coach quickly replied, “Oh my god, yeah.”
Katy Perry made headlines when she surprised a 19-year-old male contestant on the premiere episode of American Idol by kissing him–a move that many viewers considered to be shockingly tone-deaf in an era when sexual harassment in Hollywood is being examined more closely. And she hasn’t improved much as a judge since. USA Today writes: “Four episodes into the reality competition, it’s clear that the pop star’s vibe is just wrong for the show. You can feel her suck the energy out of the audition room with a stray comment or action. She’s too wacky, too hammy and yes, too flirty for the competition, which was once about the singers but is now (like NBC’s newer rival, The Voice) overshadowed by the judges.”
Producers of the Netflix drama The Crown have apologized to actors Claire Foy and Matt Smith after it was revealed that Claire was paid less than her male co-star. Left Bank Pictures said yesterday that the actors were “not aware of who gets what and cannot be held personally responsible for the pay of their colleagues.” The company added that Claire and Matt “have found themselves at the center of a media storm this week through no fault of their own.” A producer disclosed last week that Claire, who stars as Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II, was paid less than Matt, who played Prince Philip, because Matt was better known. A petition has since been launched online, urging Matt to donate part of his salary to the Time’s Up campaign.
Selena Gomez is no stranger to the endless barrage of criticism and scrutiny that women face. In a new video shared to Instagram, Selena hits out against “the beauty myth” which demands “physical perfection” and fuels “self-hatred.”
She began the caption with a definition: “The beauty myth,” Selena wrote. “An obsession with physical perfection that traps modern woman in an endless cycle of hopelessness, self consciousness, and self-hatred as she tries to fulfill society’s impossible definition of flawless beauty.”
The accompanying video shows Selena relaxing on a boat with friends in Sydney, Australia. She shared the following sentiment: “I chose to take care of myself because I want to, not to prove anything to anyone. Wind in her sails,” Selena concluded. Paparazzi photos of Selena’s Australian vacation recently hit tabloids, which drew attention to her figure and scar from her kidney transplant surgery last year.
Prince Harry reportedly felt that he needed to impress Meghan Markle as soon as he laid eyes on her. “Harry said, when he walked into that room and saw Meghan for the first time, he knew he had to up his game,” royal expert Katie Nicholl, author of Harry: Life, Loss, and Love, tells Entertainment Tonight. “There was this beautiful, glamorous actress, but I think it went far more than just a superficial initial connection. I was told really after those first couple of dates, he knew he had met someone very, very special, there was an immediate connection. I think they both knew.” She adds, “Was it love at first sight? I think it was.” Harry and Meghan, who met in July 2016 after being set up on a blind date, are getting married on May 19.
