Christina Aguilera has thrown major shade at The Voice, despite appearing as a coach on the show for six seasons. “You realize it’s not about music. It’s about making good TV moments and massaging a story,” she tells Billboard. “I didn’t get into this business to be a television show host and to be given all these [rules]. Especially as a female: You can’t wear this, can’t say that. I would find myself on that show desperately trying to express myself through clothing or makeup or hair. It was my only kind of outlet.” Aguilera goes on to call the show an “energy sucker” and says she only stayed on it for the sake of her 10-year-old son and 3-year-old daughter. “Touring is so frightening to me, because I am a mom first,” she admits. “It’s part of why I stayed in the position I was [at 0=”The” 1=”Voice”]. It’s easy to get comfortable and cushy in the same place and not have to worry about uprooting your kids.”
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are involving the public in their upcoming nuptials by inviting 1,200 people–including inner-city youth workers and community leaders–to the grounds of Windsor Castle. However, it appears their hospitality will only go so far: Representatives for the royal family, which has an estimated net worth of more than $500 million, have sent letters to the guests encouraging them “to bring a picnic lunch as it will not be possible to buy food and drink on site.” The Guardian reports that guests are baffled and amused that they have to bring their own food to an event hosted by such wealthy people. One invitee described it as “unfathomable” and says he has been researching nearby places he can grab food, but has only found a grocery store and a McDonald’s so far. “I’m not sure I’ll be able to bring in a filet meal,” he noted.
The NBA has reportedly warned Toronto Raptors mega-fan Drake about “the use of bad language” after the rapper and Cleveland’s Kendrick Perkins traded angry words during Game 1 of the teams’ playoff series. ESPN reports that Kiki Vandeweghe, the NBA’s executive vice president of basketball operations, spoke to Raptors president Masai Ujiri about the matter after court side regular Drake targeted Perkins as the teams left the court at halftime Tuesday night. The pair also exchanged words at the end of the game, but were separated before things could escalate. After hearing about the warning, Perkins said, “At the end of the day, it isn’t about Perk versus Drake; that doesn’t even sound right. It’s the Cleveland Cavaliers versus the Toronto Raptors. Besides, what could he possibly do to me? I mean, really. If he leaves me alone, I’ll leave him alone, and that’s all there is.”
Rihanna tells Vogue in a new interview that she and Drake have not managed to “Stay” friends. “We don’t have a friendship now, but we’re not enemies either,” the 30-year-old singer/actress says about their on-again-off-again relationship. “It is what it is.” She adds that Drake’s mushy speech about her at the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards–in which he proclaimed, “She’s someone I’ve been in love with since I was 22 years old…She’s one of my best friends in the world”–didn’t help. “Waiting through that speech was probably the most uncomfortable part,” RiRi explained. “I don’t like too many compliments; I don’t like to be put on blast.”
TMZ reports that G-Eazy was arrested for cocaine possession and assault after “acting belligerent” at a nightclub in Sweden Wednesday night. Joined by girlfriend Halsey and fellow rapper Sean Kingston, G-Eazy was reportedly handing out shots after his show in Stockholm when security guards approached him and asked him to calm down. G-Eazy responded by throwing punches, and the cops were called. When police detained him, they discovered cocaine in G-Eazy’s pocket and took him into custody on suspicion of assault, possession of narcotics and use of narcotics. Meanwhile, video footage of the fracas published by TMZ indicates that Halsey may have been punched in the face by security.
Justin Bieber took to Instagram on Thursday to defend Kanye West amid backlash he’s received for his outspoken support of President Donald Trump and his comments on slavery, among other things. “Our job is to love not to always agree!” Bieber wrote in his Stories. “Love you Kanye!” No stranger to controversy himself, Bieber has been laying low lately and seen spending time at church and with ex-girlfriend Selena Gomez.
Gigi Hadid has addressed accusations that she donned blackface for the cover of Vogue Italia’s new issue. Shot by famed fashion photographer Steven Klein, the cover features Hadid looking heavily tanned and nearly unrecognizable. Hadid took to Twitter on Thursday to share a paparazzi photo taken on the same day as her cover shoot that shots her complexion looking much lighter, suggesting that the images that were published were digitally darkened. “You can see the level I had been bronzed to on set that day,” she wrote. “Please understand that my control of a shoot… is nonexistent in terms of creative direction.” She continued, “Although I understand what Vogue Italia’s intentions were, it was not executed correctly and the concerns that have been brought up are valid.” Hadid went on to apologize for the cover. Vogue Italia also issued an apology and said they had intended to showcase “a stylized bronzing effect.”
In a new interview Ryan Reynolds opens up about his lifelong battle with anxiety. “I have anxiety, I’ve always had anxiety,” he notes. “Both in the lighthearted ‘I’m anxious about this’ kind of thing, and I’ve been to the depths of the darker end of the spectrum, which is not fun.” The 41-year-old Deadpool star goes on to say that his humor is a self-defense mechanism that he’s used since he was a kid. Reynolds, who has spoken before about his complicated relationship with his late father, also admits that he self-medicated in his early twenties. “I was partying and just trying to make myself vanish in some way,” he recalls.
Things are not going well for Khloe Kardashian as she tries to balance being a new mom with being epically cheated on by baby daddy Tristan Thompson. “Khloe is taking it one day at a time with Tristan…They don’t speak much about the situation, and Khloe feels like she is living in her own personal hell,” my source says. “Everyone is ready for her to come home and thinks it will give her more peace. Tristan has desperately been trying to keep Khloe happy and make their relationship work, but she thinks it’s too far done.” Meanwhile, it seems Khloe doesn’t want to hear what fans think of her baby-daddy drama. She disabled comments on several of her Instagram pics that show posing with the 27-year-old Cleveland Cavalier.
