Spice Girls star Mel B was hospitalized over the weekend for two broken ribs and what she describes as a “severed right hand” after suffering a fall at a friend’s home in London on Saturday night.
On socials she wrote, “Thank you to all the wonderful nurses, doctors, and my amazing surgeon for the care and expertise given to me here at the hospital I’ve been staying at,” Mel wrote on Instagram. “Suffering 2 broken ribs [and] a severed right hand, needing emergency care, to having had to have over a 3 hr surgery to repair the damage hence the purple sling, I’ve had to unfortunately cancel my book signing today in NY.”
“My right arm/hand is all stitched up and I’m trying to keep still to heal my broken ribs. Ohhh the pain, but I’m in super safe hands with the care of everyone here at the hospital. Thank you all for understanding,” she added.
Her close friend Gary Madatyan told People that Mel B was sleeping in the upstairs room of a friend’s house on Saturday night when she attempted to navigate a narrow staircase and ultimately slipped. “She was upstairs and the room was dark,” he said. “Everyone knows one of her eyes does not see 100 percent.” Despite her former husband Stephen Belafonte’s claims that Brown’s drug and alcohol use made her a danger to her children, Madatyan rebuffed any speculation that substances played any role in her accident, providing documents showing the singer’s clean drug test results from December 6th. “She’s not a drug addict; she’s not an alcoholic. It’s just nasty what people are saying,” he said.

Ariana Grande’s video for “thank u, next” broke all kinds of viewing records, and now its success has translated into chart success for the actual song. Thanks to the video, “thank u, next” has returned to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. It racked up 93.8 million streams last week, according to Nielsen Music, the biggest weekly total ever for a track by a female artist. The previous record of 84.5 million was held by Taylor Swift’s “Look What You Made me Do.” The only songs that have had more streams in a week are “In My Feelings” and “God’s Plan,” by Drake.
Miley Cyrus gave up smoking weed last year so that she could be more productive. But now, she’s back at it again . . . thanks to her mom Tish. Miley said in a recent interview, “My mom got me back on it. When I’m just working I don’t think I function at my highest, most intelligent . . . so I don’t smoke when I work. [But] we toke a little. Every now and then, you know.”
And in an interview with Andy Cohen, Miley said her mom smokes a lot of weed, and wants to start growing her own.
Nicki Minaj went Instagram official with her new boyfriend over the weekend . . . but this relationship might be a little ill-advised. The guy’s name is Kenneth Petty, and he’s a registered sex offender in the state of New York. Back in 1995, he was convicted of first-degree attempted rape, and he served four years. When people started calling him out for it, Nicki defended him . . . saying, “He was 15, she was 16 . . . in a relationship. But go awf Internet. Y’all can’t run my life. Y’all can’t even run y’all own life. Thank you boo.”
But that’s not where Kenneth’s rap sheet ends. He also killed a guy in 2002 by shooting him several times. He was up for murder, but he got it reduced to first-degree manslaughter. He served seven years, and got out in 2013.
But Nicki is sticking to her guns. Last night she posted a pair of photos with him, and said, “Oh they wanna talk? Let’s give’m smthn to talk about. [Shania 0=”voice”].”
After Kevin Hart stepped down as host of the 2019 Oscars following backlash over resurfaced homophobic tweets, several people pointed out that white female comedians like Amy Schumer, Chelsea Handler and Sarah Silverman had also sent out homophobic tweets in the past, without suffering consequences.
