After three Golden Globe victories and two Oscar noms, Robert Downey Jr. is beloved for his portrayal of Iron Man. But he wants to make sure he leaves fans with the best of the best memories, which may mean taking a bow sooner rather than later. “Everyone says to me it’s like a glove that fits so well. I have to start over every time but I am starting over with a pretty solid base. I just never want to blow it for the last six or seven [Marvel movies] I have done by dropping the ball because I decided to go do it one more time. I just want to hang up my jersey before it’s embarrassing.” His three Iron Man films alone have grossed more than $2.4 billion. Would you hang up your superhero cape if you were him?

Venus Williams was at fault in a fatal car crash in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, on June 9, and she is now being sued over the incident in a wrongful death lawsuit. According to a police report, Venus darted into an intersection, only to bring her SUV to an abrupt halt, apparently due to the traffic ahead. An oncoming vehicle had no time to stop and t-boned Venus’ vehicle. The driver’s 78-year-old husband, Jerome Barson, was taken to intensive care with a head injury. He died two weeks later, while his wife survived in spite of suffering broken bones and other injuries. According to the police report, Venus was “at fault for violating the right of way of [the other driver].” The suit filed against Venus by Barson’s estate seeks unspecified damages for funeral and medical expenses, loss of life, loss of companionship for his widow, and more. Despite the lawsuit, Venus’ rep says she plans to play at Wimbledon, which gets underway this week.
Based on trademarks recently filed Beyoncé and JAY-Z, it looks like they named their twins Rumi and Sir. The trademarks sought for Rumi and Sir Carter are for fragrances, cosmetics, key chains, teething rings, strollers, mugs, water bottles, hair ribbons, playing cards, tote bags, rattles, and novelty items. The twins join 5-year-old sis Blue Ivy in the Carters’ growing brood.
In related news, JAY-Z dropped his new album “4:44” a few days ago, and pretty much all anyone’s been talking about is how he admits he cheated on Beyoncé.
He says, “And if my children knew / I don’t even know what I would do / If they ain’t look at me the same / I would probably die with all the shame/ ‘You did what with who?’ / What good is a ménage à trois when you have a soulmate? / ‘You risked that for Blue?'”
He also says, “I apologize often womanize / Took for my child to be born / See through a woman’s eyes / Took for these natural twins to believe in miracles / Took me too long for this song / I don’t deserve you.”
And in a direct callback to Beyoncé’s “Lemonade” album, he raps this on a track called “Family Feud”, “Yeah, I’ll [eff] up a good thing if you let me / Let me alone, Becky.”
He even suggests that her miscarriage in 2011 was because of his neglect, “I wasn’t ready, so I apologize/ I’ve seen the innocence leave your eyes / I still mourn this death, I apologize for all the stillborns / ‘Cause I wasn’t present, your body wouldn’t accept it.”
In a song called “Kill Jay-Z”, Jay name-drops Eric Benét, who ruined his marriage to Halle Berry by cheating.
He says, “You almost went Eric Benét / Let the baddest girl in the world get away / I don’t even know what else to say / [N-word], never go Eric Benét.”
There’s also a track called “Smile”, where Jay’s mom Gloria Carter comes out of the closet. Jay raps, “Mama had four kids, but she’s a lesbian / Had to pretend so long that she’s a thespian / Had to hide in the closet, so she medicate / Society shame and the pain was too much to take.”
And then Gloria herself says, “Living in the shadow / Can you imagine what kind of life it is to live?”
Tidal is getting a boost from the exclusive release of JAY-Z’s album, but it’s also taking a hit….
Kanye West is reportedly backing out of his association with the label . . . because he doesn’t want to bother with ‘exclusive’ releases anymore. He wants to make his stuff available on as many music platforms as possible.
His last album “The Life of Pablo” was exclusively on Tidal for about a month and a half, and apparently, he wasn’t thrilled about how that worked out.
There’s talk that the split isn’t amicable. Tidal had a deal with Kanye, and so there could be legal ramifications if he breaks it.
All this is fueling reports of a possible feud between Jay-Z and Kanye. Jay-Z references Kanye several times in his new album “4:44” . . . and he isn’t exactly singing his praises.
