Ally Brooke, Normani, Dinah Jane and Lauren Jauregui are taking a hiatus from performing as Fifth Harmony so they can focus on solo projects.
The girl group was formed in 2012, came in third on Season 2 of the U.S. competition series The X Factor and have since released three studio albums.
Original member Camila Cabello left the group in 2016 to record and perform alone. Yesterday they Tweeted, “After six years going hard, non-stop, we also realized that in order to stay authentic to ourselves and to you, we do need to take some time for now to go on a hiatus from Fifth Harmony in order to pursue solo endeavors. We are all very excited and grateful to be able to take this time to learn and grow creatively and really find our footing as individuals. In doing this we are allowing ourselves to gain new experiences, strengths and perspectives that we can bring back to our Fifth Harmony family.”
Sam Smith is one of Fifth Harmony’s biggest fans and he was heartbroken after learning the news that the girl group will be taking an indefinite hiatus. “FIFTH HARMONY!!!!! NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” Sam tweeted, using over 50 exclamation points in his post.
Mariah Carey is back in the studio working on her new album. Mariah has been working on new music since 2015, after she signed a new deal with Sony label, Epic Records, and on Saturday, she celebrated St. Patrick’s Day by recording new tracks.
Shawn Mendes keeps dropping hints about his next studio album, and his latest tease is the biggest yet.
Yesterday, Shawn hit up social media to promote his next record, with one simple – but very telling – photo of a giant billboard in what appears to be New York City, with his face on it. The billboard reads, “Shawn Mendes Coming Soon.”
Cardi B defends her past as a stripper in a new interview with Cosmopolitan. “Just because somebody was a stripper don’t mean they don’t have no brain,” the “Bodak Yellow” singer tells the publication. She goes on to explain that she has no shame about her stint as a dancer because it helped shape who she is today. “People say, ‘Why do you always got to say that you used to be a stripper? We get it,’” the 24-year-old recalls. “Because y’all don’t respect me because of it, and y’all going to respect these strippers from now on.”
Chrissy Teigen took to Twitter yesterday to lament that she’s putting on weight in all the wrong places during her pregnancy. “Up 40 pounds and not one ounce went to my butt, she tweeted. “Please stop shaming the buttless, we are trying.” She went on to reveal an important rule for pregnant women. “Just a heads up that when a preggo says what they’ve gained, you can only share what you gained if it’s more. Not less,” she wrote. “THEMS THE RULES.” Chrissy and her husband John Legend are expecting their second child–a baby boy–in June. Their daughter Luna turns 2 next month.
50 Cent has slammed his ex-girlfriend Vivica A. Fox for discussing their former sex life in her new self-help book Every Day I’m Hustlng. Vivica alleges in her book that 50 Cent was more focused on his career than sex, and that she often had to be the one to initiate things. “Most of the time, I would be the one initiating sex, because I really enjoyed making love with him.” She went on to say that time was “cherished and special.” 50 Cent responded via Instagram on yesterday by sharing a screenshot of Fox’s comments printed in The New York Daily News. “I’m waking up to this s**t, that was 14 years ago,” he captioned the post. “Smh who does this? What the f**k!” 50 Cent also posted a video of himself ranting about double standards and declared, “You ladies gotta stop being crazy because y’all feel like it.”
There’s been talk that actress Cynthia Nixon would run for Governor of New York for a while now, and yesterday she officially tossed her hat into the ring.
Cynthia played Miranda Hobbes on HBO’s “Sex and the City”, which ran for six seasons from 1998 to 2004. She also did the two subsequent movies . . . and has done a lot of Broadway shows, in addition to movies and TV.
But she’s putting her acting career on hold for politics. She’s up against sitting Governor Andrew Cuomo, who’s seeking a third term. Both he and Cynthia are Democrats.
Interestingly, Cynthia is sorta running on a “Fix the Subways” platform. She mentioned the subway problems in a new two-minute campaign video, and there’s a whole section devoted to it on her website. It even says, quote, “Unlike Governor Cuomo, Cynthia Nixon rides the subway every day.”
She’s also campaigning for healthcare, ending mass incarceration, and to, quote, “make government to work again.” Several other candidates have declared. The primaries will be held on September 11th, and the election is on November 6th.
Josh Duhamel is reportedly “head over heels” for new girlfriend Eiza Gonzalez, but is keeping their romance quiet out of respect for his ex-wife Fergie. Josh actually fell for Eiza about six months ago and asked a mutual friend to introduce them. My source tells me Josh is head over heels for Eiza, but he felt guilty that he had feelings for another woman so quickly and he wants to be respectful to Fergie so he has kept this relationship very, very private. Eiza is a 28-year-old actress best known for starring in Baby Driver and being photographed making out with Liam Hemsworth after his temporary split from Miley Cyrus.
Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan has finally admitted his reason for deciding to end the show in 2013 after a modest five-season run. He says he would have loved for it to go on forever. But he says he learned a lesson from working on the ‘X-Files’ for several years, when he says he “looked up one day, and realized that everybody else was watching something else entirely. I learned at that point: you don’t want to leave the party too late. You want to leave folks wanting more.” Vince says that with ‘Breaking Bad’, he was “very anxious about the idea of folks suddenly moving on, and saying, ‘Is that show still on the air?’.” Vince says he prefers people to say, ‘Don’t end it now!’ and he is thankful that’s what happened with Breaking Bad.
