After days of back and forth, Meghan Markle’s father has confirmed that he will not be attending the royal wedding. Thomas Markle says he is set to undergo heart surgery at 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday and will not be able to walk his daughter down the aisle on Saturday. “They [doctors] will go in and clear blockage, repair damage and put a stent where it is needed,” he explained. Thomas also shared that a series of tests determined that his recent heart attack caused significant damage. He claims the heart attack was caused by the open letter penned by his son Thomas Jr., who warned Prince Harry not to marry Meghan. Thomas’ previously planned absence from the royal wedding came after his much-maligned deal to sell staged photos of himself and some family members to paparazzi.
In related news, Meghan Markle has reportedly convinced her ex-husband Trevor Engelson to hold off releasing an embarrassing comedy show depicting her romance with Prince Harry. The producer had pitched a project to FOX Studios about a divorcee who remarries a British prince. My inside source told me, “Trevor’s project is currently on hold after several months of anguish for Meghan. The plan was for the series to come out during the aftermath of the royal wedding later this summer but things have changed. Trevor has focused on other projects after having calls and impromptu meets with Meghan and his old social circle.” Meghan and Trevor have barely spoken since their divorce, but she did apparently reach out to him–with Harry’s agreement–to thank him for not telling their story in public.
Diane Keaton (72) cracked up Ellen DeGeneres with her candid answers to several questions this week. When asked about three places she’d like to touch a man, Diane said, “Inside his mouth. I’d like to touch a man in an area special. The area where the man is happy. And then… I would like to touch a man… just anywhere at all!” Despite her enthusiasm, Diane struggled to describe her sex life. “I would say I don’t have one…. I don’t participate in that,” she declared. “Well… maybe sometimes… on occasion.” The actress went on to share that she’d be open to hooking up with her celebrity crush Chris Martin if he was interested.
Kanye West took to Twitter yesterday to reveal that he got rid of his phone and is concentrating on making music. “For anyone who’s tried to text or call me in the past 2 weeks, I got rid of that phone so I could focus on these albums,” he tweeted. The 40-year-old rapper went on to share a 25-second video in which he appears to be hard at work as a beat plays in the background. The clip also shows multiple whiteboards with what appears to be in-progress tracklists for five albums that Kanye is working on for himself, Kids See Ghosts (his project with Kid Cudi), Nas, Pusha T, and Teyana Taylor. The tracklist for Kanye’s album appears to have songs called “Extacy” and “Wouldn’t Leave.” Song titles on the Kids See Ghosts project include “Ghost Town” and “Devil’s Watchin.”
On Monday’s episode of TODAY, John Cena admitted that he still wants to have a family with his ex-fianceé Nikki Bella. And when he returned to the show yesterday, he declared that he had no regrets making his candid confession. “I did what I did yesterday for one person, and one person only,” he noted. “And that’s because I love her, and I think in times of separation, oftentimes you speculate on what the other person is doing, and sometimes communication can get messed up and this is something that people don’t always understand. When you live life in the public, sometimes if you do something in private, and then you do something different in public, that person can be, like, ‘Well, you treat me two different ways.’ So, it was very important for me to be honest with myself, with you, with all of you, because in turn that allows me to be honest with Nicole and I don’t care about the environment. I don’t care about anybody’s comments, I care about one person.” John and Nikki called off their engagement in April, just weeks before they were set to tie the knot. Prior to their split, John had said he didn’t want to have children.
While John was on the Today show, Ryan Reynolds was on Good Morning America, where he opened up about his 3-year-old daughter James’ cameo in Taylor Swift’s song “Gorgeous.” He explained, “That was a voice memo that ended up on a [Taylor 0=”Swift”] song. It’s pretty amazing.” He added, “My daughter has a really, really terrible ego problem now after that song. Oh, she’s insufferable.” Ryan’s wife Blake Lively is good friends with Taylor.
Jennifer Lawrence and a male friend arrived at Brooklyn hot spot Lilia on Monday night, but had to wait for a table just like everybody else. She came in and asked for a table and exited so quickly. Then she came back in 10 minutes later and ducked over to the bar and moved back to the café where you wait for your table. After about 30 minutes, Jennifer went and checked on the status of their table. Once she was seated she asked to be relocated to a table behind a wall so you couldn’t really see her.
Meghan Markle’s extended family wasn’t invited to the Royal wedding, but that didn’t stop them from jetting off to London. Meghan’s nephew Tyler and his brother, Thomas Dooley, arrived at London Heathrow Airport along with their mother Tracy Dooley, who was the wife of Meghan’s half brother, Thomas Markle Jr. Despite no invite, the family does have a purpose there — they will be special correspondents on “Good Morning Britain” … presumably dishing family deets for Saturday’s big day.
Wiz Khalifa, who was married to Amber Rose for three years, said in a new interview that marriage is a weird thing. He explained his perspective, saying, “Honestly, it’s so strange to just say alright I’m married to you like on a piece of paper and not really feel like I’m going to be with this person for the rest of my life.”
He continued, “So when I find out that I’m going to be with someone for the rest of-the entire pieces of my life-I’m good-alright, that’s when we’ll talk about this ‘marriage thing’ but until then, I ain’t really trying to like— You can’t even have them conversations. You’ve gotta be friends first, you know what I’m saying? –You gotta become like best best friends.”
Wiz then said, “When you start talking about marriage and sh*t like that too early, you’re skipping passed them stages. Like, you shouldn’t even think about that sh*t like you should just be trying to have the most fun, get in the stupidest arguments that you can like-you know what I mean? Like, you should really find out when you got each other’s back and when you don’t and then that should force- you know what I’m saying-some other feelings, but you gotta develop all that.”
Christina Aguilera plans to release her anticipated duet with Demi Lovato, “Fall In Line,” today. Ahead of the release, both women teased the new song by posting photos of themselves as children, along with the song’s lyrics.
The song’s lyrics they quote are: “Little girls/Listen closely ‘cause no one told me/But you deserve to know/That in this world/You are not beholden/You do not owe them/Your body and your soul.”
Christina and Demi will perform “Fall In Line” together this Sunday night on the Billboard Music Awards.
