Cardi B opened the MTV VMAs last night by tricking fans into thinking she brought her newborn baby Kulture onstage.
She unraveled a blanketed bundle–only to reveal a moon man award inside. She later scooped up the award for Best New Artist.
Jennifer Lopez accepted the Vanguard Award and performed a medley of her greatest hits and TOTALLY KILLED IT! She performed her hits “Waiting for Tonight, “Love Don’t Cost a Thing” and “I’m Real.” Ja Rule and DJ Khaled also made appearances during her performance. She thanked her children and boyfriend Alex Rodriguez, calling him her “twin soul.”
Meanwhile, Ariana Grande gave an epic performance of her song “God Is a Woman” during the show. She was backed by 50 diverse female dancers and brought out her mother, her grandmother and her aunt at the end of the song. Grande also gave a shout-out to her fiance Pete Davidson when she won best pop video for her “No Tears Left to Cry” – “Pete Davidson, thanks for existing,” she gushed.
The best line of the night went to Tiffany Hadish, “Camila Cabello is nominated for five VMAs. And for those watching back home… hi, Fifth Harmony!” she quipped. Cabello smiled awkwardly as the camera panned to her face.
Madonna gave a tribute to Aretha Franklin, except.. it was really just a tribute.. to Madonna? All she did was talk about herself. She gave a lengthy speech in which she briefly mentioned singing Franklin’s hit “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman” for an audition. She described herself as a “skinny-a** white girl” and discussed her days as a struggling artist living in a crackhouse. What?!
CBS’s ran a primetime Carpool Karaoke special last night. McCartney surprised bar patrons with an impromptu concert. “Lady Madonna,” “Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da,” “I Wanna Be Your Man” and “Drive Your Car.” He also talked to Corden about the time he spent in a Japanese prison for having weed in his bag. The Beatles icon also admitted that he once told a fan that he wasn’t McCartney and told them, “No, but I wish I had his money!”
Usually you have to worry about the kids nervously throwing up at a new school, unless you’re Chrissy Teigen. Chrissy Teigen reveals she vomited at her daughter’s school orientation. The supermodel took to Twitter to apologize to fellow parents who witnessed her vomiting. She blamed “wine and Korean BBQ” rather than first-day jitters.

Models are in an uproar about Kendall’s comments about doing runway shows. Jenner said she was never one of those girls who could do “like, 30 shows a season” because she’s “selective” about her work. Swimsuit model Vita Sidorkina wrote, “Maybe ‘those girls’ need to pay their bills, that’s why they’re doing 30 shows?” Jenner’s rep said her quote was taken out of context.
Katy Perry wants the deposition she made in Kesha’s lawsuit against Dr. Luke to be kept sealed. Perry’s lawyer says that if made public, the disposition could cause “significant harm” to her “career and reputation.” The testimony might be released today. Dr. Luke has previously accused Kesha of falsely telling Lady Gaga that he raped Perry. He denies this charge.
Justin Bieber is obviously engaged. What comes after an engagement? A bachelor party! Justin Bieber has apparently asked Post Malone to plan his bachelor party. “We’re going to have a nice, little f**ing party, and we’re going to have a great time,” Post Malone said. The hip-hop star joked the pair are going to go fishing as entertainment. Bieber got engaged to Hailey Baldwin back in July.
