Mac Miller died of an apparent overdose at his home in the San Fernando Valley on Friday. He was only 26.
Mac was reportedly found on a bed around noon. A male friend called 911, but he was pronounced dead at the scene. An official cause of death won’t be released until toxicology tests are completed.
Mac had just released his latest album, “Swimming”, on August 3rd. It debuted at #3.
Mac battled substance abuse issues for years. In fact, Ariana Grande made it pretty clear that they were a factor in their breakup back in May.
Shortly after they split, Mac crashed his car into a pole and fled the scene. He was arrested for DUI and hit-and-run.
In an interview a few years ago, Mac said, “I’d rather be the corny white rapper than the drugged-out mess who can’t even get out of his house.
“Overdosing is just not cool. You don’t go down history because you overdose. You just die.”
Ariana posted a picture of Mac on Instagram after he died. She didn’t caption it. She also disabled comments on her Instagram account on Friday after trolls reportedly flooded her with comments blaming her for Mac’s death.
Meanwhile, several social media users have come to Grande’s defense. “Ariana did not kill Mac Miller; drugs did,” one Twitter user wrote. “She got out of a toxic relationship and we are not gonna blame her for her ex boyfriend’s way of dealing with a breakup, period.” Said another, “If any of you blame @ArianaGrande for @MacMiller dying, you are wrong and delusional. No one should have to stay with anyone who’s pushed them to the limit.” Miller was reportedly pronounced dead at his home in California’s San Fernando Valley. He was 26.
Serena Williams lost the Women’s U.S. Open final to Naomi Osaka on Saturday . . . but the real story was Serena’s battle with chair umpire Carlos Ramos, who hit her with three violations.
It started when Ramos called a violation for illegal communication between Serena and her coach. Serena denied cheating. Her coach later admitted to hand signals, but also said that he didn’t believe Serena had even looked at him. He added that everyone does it, and said Serena’s opponent’s coach was doing the same thing.
Then, Serena got a second violation for angrily throwing her racket at the ground and breaking it. The second penalty meant Serena lost a point, and she was NOT happy about that.
She demanded an apology from Ramos, saying he stole a point from her, and that he was a, “thief.” She yelled, “You will never, ever, ever be on another court of mine as long as you live. You are the liar.”
Ramos then issued a third violation for “verbal abuse,” which meant Serena was docked a game. After the match, Serena was fined $17,000 for the violations, but she’ll be fine. She won $1.85 million for finishing in second place.
The issue is more about Serena not wanting to be seen as a cheater . . . and whether or not the umpire was being sexist for penalizing her. Serena repeatedly said that she’d rather lose than cheat . . . and claimed she was being unfairly treated because male tennis players get away with much worse.
After the match, Serena hugged Naomi, who had just won her first Grand Slam. Later, Naomi started crying at the trophy ceremony, because Serena’s fans were booing over how the umpire had treated her.
Serena told the crowd, “I know you guys were here rooting . . . but let’s make this the best moment we can, and we’ll get through it. Let’s give everyone the credit where credit’s due. Let’s not boo anymore . . . let’s be positive . . . no more booing.”
Things got heated between Cardi B and Nicki Minaj Friday night (September 7th) during the Harper’s BAZAAR ICONS event at The Plaza Hotel in NYC. According to reports, the feud was a result of Nicki allegedly liking a tweet that criticized Cardi’s parenting.
Sources connected to Cardi said that she approached the area where Nicki was located “to address the lies Nicki was spreading.” In videos which have surfaced the net, Cardi is seen trying to get close to and lunge at Nicki, yelling, “Like some sh*t about my kid again, b*tch. Keep f**king playing with me.” Security stopped Cardi from getting close to Nicki, although she was able to remove her shoe and throw it at Nicki, but she missed. Cardi was escorted out of the building by security wearing one shoe, and she had a lump on her forehead from the incident, while Nicki remained inside. Cardi sustained the knot above her eye after being elbowed by one of Nicki’s security guards.
Shortly after the chaos, Cardi took to social media to explain her side. She wrote, “I’ve let a lot of s*t slide! I let you sneak diss me, I let you lie on me, I let you attempt to stop my bags, f**k up the way I eat! You’ve [threatened] other artists in the industry, told them if they work with me you’ll stop f**king with them!! I let you talk big sh*t about me!! I addressed you once in person, I addressed you a second time in person, and every time you copped the plea!! But when you mention my child, you choose to like comments about me as a mother, make comments about my abilities to take care of my daughter is when all bets are f**king off!!” Cardi added, “I’ve worked to hard and come too far to let anybody f**k with my success!!!! B*tches talk all that sh*t in they raps but in real life they p***y!! This sh*t really is for entertainment!!”
Zac Efron and Spice Girl Mel B recently hooked up through an exclusive dating app. My source tells the news outlets; “He ended up driving over to her pad. They hit it off and spent a few enjoyable hours together. It wasn’t exactly a meeting of minds. Neither saw it as long-term, but there was chemistry there. Mel thought Zac had an amazing body.”
On Friday nights The Tonight Show, Nick Jonas revealed how he and his fiancee Priyanka Chopra met. “We met through a friend, so we got connected first over texts and we starting talking for a while and it was about six months before we met up in person,” he explained. “And then we actually attended the Met Gala together… had a great time, just friends.” He continued, “But we then met up a couple months ago, I think five months ago now, and it was kind of immediate. I think we just knew it was right and jumped right in and we’re very happy.” Priyanka was backstage during Jonas’ interview and shouted that their celebrity couple name is “P**ck.”
Sofia Richie has opened up about her relationship with Scott Disick–and it appears the two are still going strong. “We are very happy, very lovey dovey,” Sofia says. “We are best friends and that is mainly the strongest connection we have. We have always had that best friend connection and from there it has really worked out. I am so happy.” The 20-year-old model goes on to say she hates the tabloid rumors about her and her 35-year-old boyfriend. “Everything is so false,” she declares. “I don’t read it because I just get really angry. It’s hard to fully avoid it, but I get a good laugh too.”
Bruno Mars may play Prince in a new movie about the late singer’s life. If he does it, that will be the first movie he is ever featured in! Pretty big deal for a debut acting role!
