Marvel Comics legend Stan Lee passed away yesterday at the age of 95. There’s no word on a cause of death.
He started Marvel in 1961 with Jack Kirby . . . and they co-created the Fantastic Four, Spider-Man, Black Panther, The Incredible Hulk, X-Men, Iron Man, and The Avengers.
Stan revolutionized comics by creating superheroes that had human flaws and mundane problems that adult readers could relate to. The “superheroes” before that were typically flawless, god-like figures.
After Stan retired as a comic writer, he remained at Marvel as an editor and publisher, and throughout the ’80s and ’90s he became a cult figure in the comic book world. Rest in peace, Stan.
Fans have noticed that Kate Middleton and Prince William have been more … into each other of late. Now, royal watchers are saying the established pair may feel more comfortable laying on the PDA now that they’ve seen newlyweds Prince Harry and Meghan Markle doing so (and watching the public eat it up).
For your information, according to a new poll, Harry is (by far) the most popular royal, beating all of the other members of the Fab 4, the Queen and Prince Charles. A whopping 77% prefer Harry.
Hugh Jackman refuses to apologize for his friendship with Ivanka Trump and her husband Jared Kushner. “They’re great friends. They’re unbelievably loyal,” he explained in a recent radio interview. “We’re great friends and I want to say to people… ‘So, if your friends of 15 years’ dad became president, do you dump them as a friend? Really?'” Jackman continues, “They’re good people and I would hate to think that at 50 years of age, [I] can’t say to people these are my friends and I’m not gonna dump them… Even if I disagree with some of the stuff people do–all of us have friends we disagree with the stuff they do.” Jackman faced criticism last month when he invited Trump and Kushner to his 50th birthday party.
As one of the wildfires that’s currently scorching Southern California crept up on Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s $60 million Hidden Hills mansion on Friday, my source tells me that the couple hired a crew of private firefighters to save their home and prevent the blaze from ruining their neighbors’ properties. Kim and Kanye’s huge house sits next to an open field that stood to “start a domino effect on the whole neighborhood” had the couple not hired the private hose-wielders, who also dug ditches to create a fire break. Their neighbors are reportedly extremely grateful to Kimye for doling out dough for the dousing.
Ariana Grande has hit #1 on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart with her new break-up song, “Thank U, Next.” Not only did the tune make its debut at the top spot, it’s her first #1 hit ever. In the track she referes to her relationship with Pete as well as other exes. This is the first time a female artist has debuted at #1 since Adele topped the chart with “Hello” in 2015.
Meanwhile Ariana recently took to Twitter to reflect on her tumultuous year. “What an interesting, challenging, painful and yet beautiful and exciting chapter of life,” she wrote. “When it rains it pours but I’m embracing all of it. I’m excited for whatever else the universe has in store for me.” Ariana added, “She’s growing and she’s grateful.”
Lorde took to Instagram yesterday to accuse Kanye West and Kim Cudi of copying her stage design. The 22-year-old singer shared several photos comparing her floating glass box stage to the one that Kanye and Cudi used over the weekend in Los Angeles. She wrote, “I’m proud of the work I do and it’s flattering when other artists feel inspired by it, to the extent that they choose to try it on themselves, but don’t steal—not from women or anyone else—not in 2018 or ever.” Kanye and Cudi have not responded.
Alex Trebek recently got some inside dirt on how our Prime Minister Justin Trudeau discreetly ends meetings recently. According to Alex, after about 45 minutes together, “Justin did something like this [scratches 0=”under” 1=”his” 2=”shirt”], and about 10 seconds later, there was a knock on the door and one of his assistants came in and said, ‘Mr. Prime Minister, you have a meeting.'” Alek explained, “He has a buzzer under his shirt that he can use to signal his assistants when it’s time to come and get him.”
Things must be going pretty well for Chris Pratt and girlfriend Katherine Schwarzenneger because not only did they go on a double date this weekend, it was a double date with her dad. The newish couple was spotted grabbing breakfast with Arnold Schwarzenegger and his girlfriend on Sunday at the Fairmont Miramar Hotel & Bungalows in Santa Monica. Arnold has been dating physical therapist Heather Milligan for quite some time. Following the breakfast date, Pratt and Katherine headed off for their usual Sunday morning services at a nearby church.
Travis Scott opened up about baby Stormi Webster’s childbirth on Monday during the Ellen show. As Jezebel reports, the rapper–and Kylie Jenner baby daddy–told Ellen Degeneres that daughter Stormi’s birth was his first time in a delivery room. And, let’s just say he was a little freaked out by one particular thing. “It’s like this thing called like the placenta that I’ve just been hearing about,” he told Degeneres. “Oh my god, so I was fearful of that.” Scott also shared some sweet pics of his baby girl on the show and even revisited his high school musical days by singing part of a song from Kiss Me Kate.
