“Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One” kicked off to $15.5 million on opening day. Paramount and Skydance’s big-budget tentpole, which is the 7th installment in the Tom Cruise-led action franchise, is projected to collect at least $60 million between Friday and Sunday.
Elton John could soon become an EGOT, or someone who has won and Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony. His “Elton John Live: Farewell from Dodger Stadium” special has been nominated for an Outstanding Variety Special Emmy. If he wins, he will be the 19th person ever to achieve EGOT status.
NBA superstar LeBron James isn’t retiring, announcing at the ESPY Awards that he will return to the Lakers this upcoming season. LeBron told the audience “The day I can’t give the game everything on the floor is the day I’ll be done. Lucky for you guys, that day is not today.”
A documentary on Gwyneth Paltrow’s ski crash trial is on its way. Just 3 months after a jury found retired optometrist Terry Sanderson 100% at fault in the collision case, a documentary about the trial is coming to Warner Bros. Discovery UK and Ireland. The 2-part special, will debut sometime later this year.
Fox has finally unveiled its fall schedule and as expected, it’s full of unscripted series and animated shows. And the fact that it is leaning entirely on reality shows and animated series, as well as wrestling, isn’t a surprise given the fact that the writers strike has disrupted production, and actors are set to strike too.
“Barry” star Anthony Carrigan has been cast as good-guy hero ‘Metamorpho’ in DC Studios’ “Superman: Legacy”. He joins an ensemble that includes Isabela Merced as ‘Hawkgirl, Edi Gathegi as ‘Mister Terrific’ and Nathan Fillion as ‘Guy Gardner’. James Gunn’s DC reboot stars David Corenswet as the ‘Man of Steel’, and Rachel Brosnahan as ‘Lois Lane’. The movie’s targeted release date is July 2025.
Zayn Malik admits that One Direction were “sick of each other” by the time he left the group. They arrived separately around 10 p.m. and went their separate ways at 1:30 a.m. — with Butler’s security escorting the Latin superstar to her car. Sources who saw the pair inside the eatery say they enjoyed sushi and cocktails and were “looking cozy.”
Deadline reports that the iconic Hollywood sign in Los Angeles, California, turned 100. The sign was originally constructed as “Hollywoodland” in hopes of luring real estate investors to the area in 1923.
