Yesterday was Taylor Swift’s 34th birthday. So, in celebration, Brad Paisley posted a throwback to when she was in his 2007 video for “Online”. He says, quote, “Thanks for being a background singer in one of my music videos all those years ago!” The video also stars Kellie Pickler. Both Taylor and Kellie were opening acts during his 2007 “Bonfires and Amplifiers” tour.
The Critics Choice Awards nominations are revealed and “Barbie” leads, scoring 18 overall nominations including Best Picture, Best Director (Greta Gerwig), Best Actress (Margot Robbie), and Best Supporting Actor (Ryan Gosling). The 2024 Critics Choice Awards, hosted by Chelsea Handler , will air January 14 on the CW.
The U.S. Library of Congress announced the 25 films joining the National Film Registry for 2023, with titles including “12 Years a Slave,” “Home Alone,” “The Nightmare Before Christmas” and “Terminator 2: Judgment Day.” Selected films must be more than 10 years old and are selected each year for their cultural, historic, or aesthetic significance to preserve the film heritage of the U.S.
After the critical and box office success of “Saw X” this fall, Lionsgate has announced that “Saw XI” will drop on September 27, 2024. The 11th installment of the gory horror series will hit theaters about one month before the 20th anniversary of the release of the first “Saw”.
SZA celebrated the first anniversary of her “SOS” album by teasing her next one. She took to Instagram to say the success of the record “is beyond my wildest dreams.” Then, she shared 6 album covers for her upcoming LP “Lana”, rumored to drop this month.
Sum 41 has dropped the new single ‘Rise Up’ and given some details on its final album “Heaven :x: Hell”. A release says the record, out March 29, is “the most ambitious album from SUM 41 yet. “Heaven” is 10 tracks of snarling high energy pop punk, while “Hell” consists of 10 heavy metal anthems spiked with fret-burning solos, thrashing riffs, and fist-pumping hooks.”
Honeymoon Suite will release the new album “Alive” on February 16. It was produced by Mike Krompass, whose songwriting and production credits include Meghan Trainor, Steven Tyler, Theory of a Deadman, and Smash Mouth.
Nicki Minaj’s “Pink Friday 2” album is loaded with features. One of the songs getting traction is “Needle” featuring Drake. Nicki told her fans that the song was originally supposed to be on Drake’s recent “For All The Dogs” album. She said on IG, “It was originally supposed to be on his album, and it’s crazy how I always wanted it for my album.”
Tiffany Haddish was charged with DUI yesterday, after being found asleep at the wheel in L.A. three weeks ago. This is her second recent DUI arrest. She also got popped in Georgia in January of 2022.
A stage musical based on the 1987 classic, “The Lost Boys”, is in the works . . . because why not. The guys behind it include David Hornsby from “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia”, Patrick Wilson and the pop rock band The Rescues. Casting hasn’t been announced yet, so maybe there’s still hope that Corey Feldman will be involved. Not much else is known, except it’ll tour the country in 2025.
Morgan Wallen, Blake Shelton, Kane Brown, and Carly Pearce are some of the performers added to this year’s “New Year’s Eve Live: Nashville’s Big Bash”. It airs live at 7:30pm Eastern on CBS and Paramount+.
Anthony Anderson will host the Emmy Awards, which air January 15th on Fox. They were originally supposed to air September 18th but were delayed because of the writers and actors strikes.
The Netflix Is a Joke Fest is back for a second year from May 2nd to the 12th in Los Angeles. There will be more than 300 events, including “G.R.O.A.T. – The Greatest Roast of All Time: Tom Brady”.
The Super Bowl will be played in Los Angeles in 2027 . . . giving L.A. the World Cup, the Super Bowl, and the Olympics in three consecutive years.
Forbes reports that Beyonce’s net worth grew by $300 million this year to a hefty $800 million. It was only back in June that Bey landed at No. 48 on the magazine’s annual ranking of the richest self-made women in America with an estimated worth of $540 million. A big part of this year’s growth was the $100 million she earned from the “Renaissance” tour.
Billboard estimates that Taylor Swift grossed approximately $1.82 billion this year in music sales, royalties, concert tickets, merchandise, and movie ticket sales. “The Eras Tour” made up the biggest piece of the pie, generating approximately $900 million in ticket sales in 2023 and another $132 million worth of merchandise.
“Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve With Ryan Seacrest” has announced additional performances for this year’s show — which will be broadcast from remote locations around the world. K-pop group NewJeans will be live from South Korea, Post Malone will take the stage at the Fontainebleau Hotel in Las Vegas, and Ivy Queen will perform from Puerto Rico.
