Sum 41 will wrap up their career by being inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame. The group is scheduled to play its final show in Toronto on January 30 but will play one last performance when it is honored at the 2025 Juno Awards in Vancouver on March 30.
Chuck Woolery, the smooth-talking original host of “Wheel of Fortune,” who also emceed “Love Connection”, and “Scrabble” has died. He was 83. He was inducted into the American TV Game Show Hall of Fame in 2007 and earned a daytime Emmy nomination in 1978.
Apple TV+ won’t release its Jon Hamm-led drama “Your Friends & Neighbors” for several months, but it’s already set to get going on a second season. The streamer has renewed the show for season 2, while also setting a premiere date and offering up a first look at the inaugural run. The 9-episode first season of “Your Friends & Neighbors” will premiere April 11.
Kendrick Lamar is ending 2024 with a bang. He surprised fans by dropping his 6th studio album on Friday. “GNX” contains 12 songs, and features contributions from SZA, Jack Antonoff, Kamasi Washington, Roddy Ricch, and more.
The Muppets are taking over Aerosmith’s roller coaster. Disney has officially announced that the 25-year-old Aerosmith-themed “Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster” at Disney’s Hollywood Studios will be re-tooled, to allow the Muppets to team up with some of “music’s biggest stars for a rockin’ music festival!”
On Friday, the same day that Jelly Roll dropped ‘Hurt’, his new collab with OneRepublic, and the same week that he announced a stadium tour with Post Malone, Jelly also released ‘Run It’, a clap-along ditty for the “Sonic the Hedgehog 3” soundtrack.
Former Foreigner vocalist Lou Gramm plans to retire in 2025, saying, “I’m releasing a solo album in January, which I can’t wait for it to hit the airways. I think I’m going to go tour until May or June of next year and then I’m going to go off the road…and that’s gonna be it for me.” This is the third time the 74-year-old has announced his retirement, first planning to hang up his mic in 2018 and then also this year.
Michelle Williams is currently performing in “Death Becomes Her” on Broadway. Her Destiny’s Child family went to see the show last week. Beyonce posted an Instagram reel of her, Kelly Rowland, and Tina Knowles backstage at the theater. Michelle replied to the post, saying, “I try not to cry too early in the day BUT……. My sisters 4ever! 🤍💫”
Adele wrapped up her “Weekends With Adele” residency in Las Vegas, leaving her future live performance plans in limbo in the process. “I will miss it terribly. I will miss you terribly,” Adele tearfully admitted on stage during the final night of her residency. “I don’t know when I’m going to perform again. I’m not doing anything else, I’m actually sh**ting myself about what I’m actually going to do. I don’t have any f**king plans.”
Idris Elba is in talks to play Duncan in Amazon’s live-action adaptation of “Masters of the Universe”, alongside Nicholas Galitzine as He-Man, Camila Mendes as Teela, and Alison Brie as Evil Lyn. The film will drop June 5, 2026.
“Wicked” dominated the weekend box office, claiming the top spot in North America with a $114 million debut. It’s the fourth highest-grossing musical debut in history, and the best opening (by far) for a Broadway adaptation. In second place, “Gladiator II” opened with $56 million domestically, while securing $165.5 million in international earnings for a global total of $221 million.
ESPN has announced that former Philadelphia Eagles star and current “Monday Night Countdown” analyst Jason Kelce will host a new weekly late-night show titled “They Call It Late Night” with Jason Kelce. It will debut in January and film in Philly, airing a few hours later on ESPN on Friday/Saturday overnights, with streaming also available on ESPN+ and YouTube.
Travis Kelce can add another accomplishment to his resumé! During the Kansas City Chiefs’ game against the Carolina Panthers in Charlotte, N.C., on Sunday, Travis caught a pass from Patrick Mahomes, and made a powerful run after the catch, picking up 19 yards to secure his spot. He surpassed Los Angeles Chargers legend Antonio Gates to become the tight end with the third-most receiving yards in NFL history.
It looks like Country Music’s Biggest Night didn’t produce big ratings. Last week’s 58th Annual CMA Awards brought 6 million live viewers on ABC, a slight drop from last year, but still a new all-time low.
Meghan Trainor is opening up about her cosmetic surgery plans. “Here’s another clickbait move I’m trying to make,” she teased in the recent episode of her podcast, “Workin’ on Upgrades”. “I’m getting a boob job.” She went on to explain her reason: “Because my mommy boobies were full of milk and now, they’re empty and then full of milk and now they’re empty. Apple has canceled ‘Wolfs 2’, the sequel to Brad Pitt and George Clooney’s action comedy. Director Jon Watts dropped the news, saying, “I don’t know what I’m directing next, and I don’t think there’s going to be a ‘Wolfs’ sequel.” ‘Wolfs’ didn’t even get a full theatrical release. Despite having two huge legacy stars, the movie was only in theatres for week in September before Apple TV Plus premiered it on September 27. It was Apple’s most-viewed movie ever.
