Warner Bros. confirmed that the upcoming Harry Potter series will begin filming this summer at Leavesden Studios in the UK, where the original movies were shot. Showrunner Francesca Gardiner and director Mark Mylod announced during a presentation yesterday that they have already auditioned 32,000 children for lead roles and are currently reviewing up to 1,000 audition tapes per day.
ABC has greenlit a Scrubs reboot, with creator Bill Lawrence returning as executive producer. He won’t be the showrunner, however, as he’s already busy with other hit series like Ted Lasso and Shrinking. Efforts are underway to secure the original Scrubs cast, including Zach Braff, Donald Faison, Sarah Chalke, and John C. McGinley.
ABC is developing a new spinoff of The Rookie from creator Alexi Hawley, featuring a “male cop who is stepping into a new phase of life in his second act” in Washington state. Hawley will write and executive produce the show, along with The Rookie star Nathan Fillion.
50 Cent is launching his own curated action channel on Roku, featuring his favorite films and TV series, including movies starring the rapper himself and episodes of his series Power. The ad-supported channel debuts Dec. 10

Sum 41 have been forced to cancel their entire upcoming tour of Australia due to frontman Deryck Whibley’s health issues. The band had previously cancelled a scheduled show at Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley Music Hall on December 4 “due to Deryck being diagnosed with pneumonia,” while revealing that the singer “is receiving the best possible local care.” But apparently Whibley’s health issues continue to be a problem, and all their Australia shows are now off.

Carrie Underwood has been announced as the headlining performer for Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve With Ryan Seacrest 2025. Underwood joins the other newly announced performers – CMA Awards Best New Artist Megan Moroney and Saltburn’s “Murder on the Dancefloor” viral sensation Sophie Ellis-Bextor – who will all perform during the holiday TV broadcast. The trio of music stars join the previously announced performers Lenny Kravitz, Teddy Swims, Tinashe, Cody Johnson, and Thomas Rhett, along with Rita Ora, who will co-host the event with Ryan Seacrest.

The Critics Choice Association has revealed the TV nominees for the 2025 Critics Choice Awards. Shogun leads the pack with six nominations, including best drama series. Other notable contenders with four nominations each include Abbott Elementary, Disclaimer, Hacks, The Diplomat, The Penguin, and What We Do In the Shadows. Netflix secured a total of 23 nominations, while HBO/Max received 21, followed by 13 for FX and 12 for Apple TV+.
