The 83rd Golden Globes ceremony is scheduled for Sunday, January 11, moving back a week from its usual date. Host Nikki Glaser will return, and the event will be broadcast live on CBS and Paramount+.
Netflix CEO Ted Saranos claims that the streaming giant is “saving Hollywood”. During the Time 100 Summit, he boldly claimed, “We’re saving Hollywood, we’re a very consumer-focused company. We deliver the program to you in a way you want to watch it. What is the consumer trying to tell us? That’s they want to watch movies at home.” He then said heading to the movie theater was “an outmoded idea for most people — not for everybody.”
Prime Video dropped the trailer for its action-comedy “Heads of State”, which stars John Cena and Idris Elba as the U.S. President and U.K. Prime Minister, respectively. The trailer begins as the pair shake hands and John says they are embarking on a “debut duet.” The duo gets attacked while flying and is forced to work together, which doesn’t come naturally for the rivals. It arrives on Prime Video on July 2.
Green Day, fresh off their Coachella performances, will receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on May 1. Hosted by TV and radio personality Matt Pinfield, tennis star Serena Williams and ‘Deadpool’ star Ryan Reynolds will speak at their event, which will stream live at WalkOfFame.com.
Anthony Anderson and Cedric the Entertainer have teamed up with Arby’s. The two entertainers created the AC Barbeque brand a few years ago. Arby’s has created two new sandwiches featuring AC’s BBQ sauces: a quarter pound Pulled Pork and a quarter-pound Brisket. The sauces are Cedric’s Sweet Bussin Brown Sugar Sauce, and Anthony’s Spicy Chipotle Smoke Sauce.
Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez continue to have trouble selling their marital home, and Ben has an idea that’s not going over so well with his ex-wife. Sources tell TMZ that Ben is very motivated to sell the home and wants to lower the price, but J Lo is dragging her feet. The former couple’s Beverly Hills estate is currently on the market for $68 million, and there has been no serious interest. Multiple realtors say the $68 million asking price is way too high.
Seth MacFarlane’s ninth studio album, “Lush Life: The Lost Sinatra Arrangements”, will feature 12 unreleased arrangements created for Frank Sinatra by two of his legendary collaborators. It’s set to arrive on June 6. The first song, “Lush Life,” was just released. Frank died in 1998 at age 82, and these arrangements remained in the Sinatra family’s private collection for years.
Bryan Adams will tour North America this year for the first time as an independent artist. Bryan’s 40-date ‘Roll with The Punches’ tour kicks off this May. He spoke about working under his independent label, Bad Records, with ‘People’ saying “Everything seems a lot simpler.” He added that he’ll release his first independent album this August.
Willie Nelson’s 154 studio album “Oh What a Beautiful World” is out today. It’s a tribute to his longtime friend and fellow musician Rodney Crowell . . . Every song on the album was written by Rodney. In case you were wondering, Willie is 91 years old . . . and this is his 77th solo project.
Madonna‘s iconic 1986 hit “La Isla Bonita” has made history by becoming her first music video to achieve 1 billion views on YouTube. Madonna’s record-setting video was directed by Mary Lambert, who also was behind her celebrated videos for “Borderline,” “Like A Virgin,” “Material Girl,” and “Like A Prayer.”
The 1998 slasher film “Urban Legend” is set for a contemporary reboot. The original film revolved around a New England university plagued by a killer who draws inspiration from popular urban legends (like death by Pop Rocks and soda). The reboot aims to explore the concept of urban legends in a modern, digital world, although any specific plot details remain undisclosed.
Weezer’s upcoming movie, with Keanu Reeves as a villain, will also feature Jack Black, who has collaborated with the band in the past. The film also includes Eric Andre, Johnny Knoxville, Juliette Lewis & Ben Schwartz.
“Lego Masters” is coming back for another season! The reality TV show will return with Season 5 on Fox this summer, premiering on May 19. Will Arnett will once again be the host. Based on the new teaser, Season 5 will feature challenges themed to “Star Wars”, the blockbuster movie “Wicked”, and “Batman”.
Has it been 35 years?! New Kids on the Block announced an anniversary reissue of their 1990 album “Step By Step”, celebrating 35 years of the boy band’s fourth studio album. The anniversary edition will feature bonus material, unreleased tracks, and remixes. It will arrive this summer on June 13, marking the album’s first time available on vinyl since its original release.
“Saturday Night Live” will wrap up its 50th season with some excellent hosts. Walton Goggins will make his SNL hosting debut on May 10. Arcade Fire will serve as the musical guest. On May 17, Scarlett Johansson will host the season finale with a musical performance by Bad Bunny. Quinta Brunson and Benson Boone had been previously announced to be the host and musical guest on May 3.
