The 2025 Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards went down Saturday night in Santa Monica, California. Rihanna became the first recipient of the ICON Award (accepted virtually) and Jack Black accepted the King of Comedy award in person. Sabrina Carpenter was the top winner at the awards, winning three of the show’s signature Orange Blimp trophies: favorite female breakout artist, favorite album for “Short n’ Sweet”, and favorite song for “Taste”.
Mariah Carey’s latest song “Type Dangerous” is the highest-debuting song on the R&B radio charts in 30 years. MC’s new track entered Billboard’s Hot R&B Songs chart at number 7 in its first week. The last song to start that high was Whitney Houston’s 1995 smash “Exhale (Shoop Shoop).” That song entered the chart at number 6.
The live-action version of “How to Train Your Dragon” continued to shine at the box office. The movie was number one for the second straight week, bringing in $37 million. In its first week of release, “28 Years Later” opened in second place with $30 million. Disney / Pixar’s “Elio” bombed at the box office, earning only $21 million. “Elio” is the worst opening for a Pixar movie ever.
SZA is teasing a trip to the studio with her friend Lizzo! In a series of Instagram Stories posted on Friday, SZA gave fans a sneak peek of a new collab with Lizzo. “Working on a guest star for bookie @lizzobeeating’s new mixtape,” SZA wrote in one of the captions, calling it a “lil after-dinner session.”
Paris Hilton has purchased Mark Wahlberg’s former mansion after losing her Malibu home in the LA wildfires. There’s a sports court made for basketball and tennis, plus a skate park, 5-hole golf course with a driving range and a resort-style pool with waterslides. There’s also a wine cellar in the main house, as well as 20 bathrooms, a grand entryway with dual staircases, a 2-story library, a movie theater, and a gym. The price? $63 million.
Jonas Brothers’ new song was inspired by The Bee Gees‘ 1978 #1 hit ‘Stayin’ Alive’. ‘No Time To Talk’ interpolates the Bee Gees tune, and they say they got their permission to use the disco classic. Instead of the iconic chorus, “Ah, ah, ah, ah, stayin’ alive, stayin’ alive,” the JoBros sing, “She said ‘I, I, I, I/ came to dance, no time to talk.’”
Oasis released their Adidas collab on Friday. Ads for the 90s-inspired clothing range “Original Forever”, show Noel and Liam Gallagher pictured together for the first time since the reunion tour was announced last summer, wearing specially designed Adidas jackets.
Mötley Crüe released a new version of ‘Home Sweet Home’ – featuring Dolly Parton! A portion of profit from the 40th anniversary re-do of the song will benefit Covenant House, a non-profit for youth experiencing homelessness. It will appear on the “From The Beginning” singles collection, out September 12.

Morgan Wallen’s “I’m the Problem” tops the Billboard 200 albums chart for a fifth straight week. This marks the first album by a man to spend five weeks at No. 1 since his last album, “One Thing at a Time”, spent its first 12 weeks atop the chart back in March-June of 2023, on its way to 19 total weeks at No. 1.
J.K. Rowling has endorsed the upcoming HBO “Harry Potter” television series, describing the first two episodes as “SO, SO, SO GOOD!” The author noted she “worked closely with the extremely talented writers” on the show, which is set to be a “faithful adaptation” of her best-selling fantasy books.
Owen Wilson returns for the fourth installment of the “Meet The Parents” franchise, joining Robert De Niro, Ben Stiller, and Teri Polo. The film will also feature Ariana Grande. John Hamburg will write and direct the new installment, which finds Ben’s character now the same age as De Niro’s was in the first film, and his grown-up kids meeting the parents.
Russell Crowe will mentor Henry Cavill in the “Highlander” remake, playing the role originally portrayed by Sean Connery. The Oscar-winning actor will guide Henry’s character on the ways of the immortals, under the direction of “John Wick” filmmaker Chad Stahelski.
