Halsey is opening up to her fans about her experiences of having endometriosis and how she’s taking matters into her own hands:
She says: Doing an ovarian reserve is important to me because I’m fortunate enough to have that as an option, but I need to be aggressive about protecting my fertility, about protecting myself…Reproductive illness is so frustrating because it can really make you feel like less of a woman. You’re sick, you don’t feel sexy, you don’t feel proud, you don’t feel like there’s much hope. And so taking these measures, so that hopefully I can have a bright future and achieve the things that I want to achieve by doing the ovarian reserve, is really important. That is why we need to make sure that women know that being in pain when you’re menstruating is not normal. It’s not OK, we can’t minimize these people’s pain and tell young women ‘you’re being sensitive, it’s your period’ because there could be an underlying issue that could kill them.”
So brave of her to share her story and it’s great that she is encouraging other women to go on their own journey of discovery when it comes to their bodies!
