June 17 was National Snake Day–and also marked two years since Kim Kardashian started her feud with Taylor Swift by referring to her as a snake on Twitter. Kim’s fans embraced the nickname and began flooding Taylor’s social media accounts with snake emojis. But the pop star has since embraced the snake as a symbol and declared on the opening night of her Reputation tour, “I wanted to send a message that if someone uses name calling to bully you, that doesn’t have to defeat you. It can strengthen you instead.” So, yesterday, Taylor made a subtle reference to the debacle by wearing a faux-snakeskin Kate Spade backpack as she hit the streets of New York. The hashtags #KimApologizeToTaylor and #TaylorSwiftWonParty began trending soon after. “IS MY GIRL WEARING A F**KING SNAKE SKIN BACKPACK ON NATIONAL SNAKE DAY. HISS HISS B**CH @taylorswift13,” one fan tweeted.
In a new cover story for Vogue Australia, Katy Perry reveals that she suffered from depression after critics and fans reacted negatively to her 2017 album Witness. “I have had bouts of situational depression and my heart was broken last year because, unknowingly, I put so much validity in the reaction of the public, and the public didn’t react in the way I had expected to,” she admits. Katy goes on to say that she attended a week-long “personal growth retreat” at the Hoffman Institute in California to treat her unhappiness. “I was ready to let go of anything that was holding me back from being my ultimate self,” she explains. “Music is my first love and I think it was the universe saying, ‘OK, you speak all of this language about self-love and authenticity, but we are going to put you through another test and take away any kind of validating ‘blankie.” Then we’ll see how much you do truly love yourself.’ That brokenness… gave me a wholeness I never had.”
Former Destiny’s Child singer Michelle Williams has checked herself into a mental health facility to seek treatment for depression. TMZ reports that the 37-year-old has been at a center outside of Los Angeles for the past several days. “For years I have dedicated myself to increasing awareness of mental health and empowering people to recognize when it’s time to seek help, support and guidance from those that love and care for your well-being,” Williams tweeted on Tuesday evening. “I recently listened to the same advice I have I have given to thousands around the world and sought help from a great team of healthcare professionals.” She concluded, “If you change your mind, you can change your life.”
Meghan Markle’s dad, Thomas Markle says the only reason he keeps doing interviews is because his daughter Meghan and the royal family are ignoring him. He recently chatted with TMZ and said, “I was silent for a full year and the press beat me up every day saying I was a hermit hiding in Mexico, so I gave my story. Apparently that interview put the royal family in their silence mode… so, I gave another interview to break the silence. All they have to do is speak to me.” Thomas goes on to say that he thinks the royals are hoping he goes away if they ignore him. He insists that all he wants is to be in contact with Meghan–especially because Wednesday marks his 74th birthday.
Saturday Night Live star Leslie Jones took to Twitter on Tuesday to slam Jessica Alba and her Honest Company. “Ok @Honest you just lost a good customer. @JessicaAlba please address your company that is not doing good business,” she wrote. “I have use your company for more than three years now and these last three orders have been a nightmare! I have spend too much money here for that to happen!” Alba responded a few hours later. “Omg! I’m so so sorry you haven’t had a great experience. We are all over this issue and will make it right,” she wrote “I am so appreciative and grateful to you for being a loyal Honest fan over the years, especially as we go through these growing pains. I’m a huge fan of yours. JA.” Alba founded the Honest Company in 2011.
Jerry Seinfeld didn’t consider becoming a comedian until college. He says, “I remember being very funny, but everyone was funny.
“I didn’t think I was funnier than anybody else, [until] one day a friend of mine in college said to me, ‘I think of all of us . . . YOU’RE the funniest and you could be a comedian’ . . and that was the moment I said, ‘Okay, I’m going to do it.'”
Jerry’s first joke was a bit about how when you’re left-handed, everything is negative. Quote “Two left feet . . . left-handed compliment. You go to a party, there’s nobody there: ‘Where did they go?’ ‘Oh, they left.'”
Tyrese Gibson regrets calling out his Fast and the Furious co-star Dwayne Johnson on Instagram last year to accuse him of delaying the release of the franchise’s ninth film. “I found myself being the messenger on behalf of various people associated to the franchise, but stupid me was the only one who went public about those feelings, which is my own fault,” he admits. He adds, “It’s not professional, it’s not cool.”
Forbes may have just called Kylie Jenner a self-made near-billionaire, but GQ now reports that when it comes to her personal life, not everything is perfect. In her first joint interview with baby daddy Travis Scott, the 20-year-old admits that it’s “normal” for them to get into “little fights.” “When we fight, it’s usually just because we’ve been away from each other for too long and we didn’t see each other for, like, two weeks,” Jenner explains. “And we have Stormi now and I can’t travel with her. She’s too young. So it’s harder to see each other.” Meanwhile, the couple appear to have another one of their “little fights” in a GQ video where Kylie quizzes Travis to see how much he knows about her. The rapper beefed the second question when he could only name one of her four dogs.
When Travis was asked by GQ about the so-called “Kardashian curse” on love, he said he doesn’t pay any attention to it, instead he focuses all of his energy on his relationship with Kylie. He said, “Kylie actually likes me for me. Man, hell nah. Nervous for what? I’m on my own island.”
Sam Asghari has opened up about his failed first attempt to hit on Britney Spears when he appeared in her music video for “Slumber Party” in 2016. “She said, ‘Hi, I’m Britney,’ and I said, ‘I’m sorry. What’s your name again?'” he tells Men’s Health magazine. “I tried to be funny. I don’t think anybody got it.” The joke fell flat, but the two exchanged numbers and Britney asked Asghari out to sushi. The 24-year-old personal trainer also reveals in the interview that he lost 100 pounds before getting into modeling and now exercises with his famous 36-year-old girlfriend. “Working out together is always nice and we try to do it a couple times,” he notes. “It’s super healthy, mentally and physically. It takes your mind off of everything else.”
