David Beckham stood in line for 13 hours to pay respects to Queen Elizabeth over the weekend. The Queen was laid to rest this morning. Her funeral began at 10:44 local time, which was 5:44 Eastern.
Leo DiCaprio has been given the invite to join the cast of “Squid Game”. Director Hwang Dong-hyuk revealed that the upcoming season will again be set in Korea, and although “there will be no known Hollywood actor in season 2,” that could change in the future. And if it does, “maybe in season 3”, Hwang has someone in mind: “Leonardo DiCaprio did say he’s a big fan of Squid Game. So maybe if time or chances allow, we can ask him to join the games.”
Pat Sajak appears to be ready for his last spin on “Wheel of Fortune”. The 75-year-old said: “In most television shows by this time, you would have said, ‘That’s probably enough,’ but this show will not die.” “Wheel of Fortune” began in 1975, and Pat came on board in 1981. In his 4-decade tenure, he and co-host Vanna White have become the faces of the game show. Looking ahead, Pat said, ” We’re getting near the end. It’s been a long time. We’re not gonna do this for another 40 years.”
DNCE continued their recent string of cover performances on Friday by releasing their take on Gnarls Barkley‘s 2006 jam ‘Crazy’. DNCE’s acoustic rendition follows similar covers of Hilary Duff‘s ‘Come Clean’, JoJo‘s ‘Too Little Too Late’ and Paramore‘s ‘The Only Exception’, plus Harry Styles current #1 hit ‘As it Was’.
Imagine Dragons’ Dan Reynolds and his wife, Aja Volkman, have announced another split. They previously split in 2018, but announced the following year that they were working to repair the relationship.
Mariah Carey plans to finally release the “irreverent, raw, and urgent” alt-rock album she secretly recorded in 1995, which her record company refused to make public. Working with a band called Eel Tree, she recorded the album, inspired by artists like Hole and Alanis Morissette, while working upon her “Daydream” album.
Sinead O’Connor’s documentary “Nothing Compares” will hit theaters this Friday, and will be available on Showtime Sept. 30. It covers Sinead’s rise to fame and examines how she used her voice at the height of her stardom, before her iconoclastic personality led to her exile from the pop mainstream.
Foo Fighters will release “The Essential Foo Fighters” on Oct. 28. It features a slightly different track listing from 2009’s “Greatest Hits”, including ‘Cold Day in the Sun’, a song written and sung by late drummer Taylor Hawkins, which appeared in 2005’s “In Your Honor and was an energetic staple of the band’s live show.
Kelsea Ballerini debuted her new song and video ‘If You Go Down (I’m Goin’ Down Too)’ on Friday. It’s from her album, “Subject to Change,” out Sept. 23. She also announced the song list for the disc, which includes the collaboration ‘You’re Drunk, Go Home’ featuring Kelly Clarkson and Carly Pearce.
A new “Karate Kid” movie is in the works for 2024 that’s supposedly connected to the original franchise, but has nothing to do with “Cobra Kai”. Obviously, people are wondering how that’s possible.
There’s going to be a sequel to the 2005 supernatural movie “Constantine”. Keanu Reeves will be returning as the occult investigator John Constantine. No word on who else will be in it or when it’ll come out.
Post Malone fell hard into an open trapdoor during a show in St. Louis on Saturday night. After a 15-minute break, he finished a shortened version of his show. He later said the fall knocked the wind out of him.
A lot of people were unhappy with the debut of “Thursday Night Football” on Amazon Prime. There were complaints about the picture being fuzzy and pixilated and the sound not syncing up. And of course, people who don’t have Amazon and couldn’t watch it weren’t happy, either.
Broadway’s longest-running musical, “Phantom of the Opera”, will close next February after 35 years.
Instead of premiering exclusively on HBO Max, “Magic Mike’s Last Dance” will hit theaters on February 10th.
Charlie Puth has announced plans to play concerts across North America with the “One Night Only” tour. There will be 8 stops beginning October 23 in New Jersey. Then, he moves on to New York City and he’ll wrap November 9th in Los Angeles. He will be promoting his forthcoming third studio album, “CHARLIE”, due October 7th.
Over the weekend, Bazzi released his long awaited third solo album, “Infinite Dream”. Along with it, comes the official music video for the new single, “Heaven”. The clip has already premiered on MTV and was shown on the Times Square billboards.
New music from Paramore is on the way. The band announced their first new single in five years will be titled “This Is Why” and will be out on September 28. Earlier this year, singer Hayley Williams confirmed that the band was in the studio working on their 6th album. Their last release was 2017’s “After Laughter”.
“The Woman King” took the domestic box office by storm this weekend, bringing in $19 million. Deadline reports that this number is higher than expected and that people are raving about the epic film, led by Viola Davis. “The Woman King” has received an A+ CinemaScore and a 95% positive score on Comscore/Screen.
