Norman Lear, creator of many legendary television shows, has died. He was 101 years old. Some of his most significant shows in the 1970s and 80s included “All In The Family”, “Sanford and Son”, “Diff’rent Strokes”, “Good Times”, “The Jeffersons”, “The Facts of Life”, and “One Day at a Time”.
“Squid Game: The Challenge” is coming back for more. Netflix announced Wednesday that it renewed the reality competition series for Season 2 and casting is open.
Taylor Swift is ending her year with another accolade: She has been named Time magazine’s 2023 “Person of the Year” beating out Barbie and King Charles III. An AI-generated voice of Jimmy Stewart, the legendary Hollywood actor who died in 1997, reads a new bedtime story on the Calm sleep and meditation app. The voice of Jimmy, who starred in films like “It’s a Wonderful Life,” and “Vertigo”, was recreated for the Calm story using AI voice-cloning technology.

TikTok has crowned Selena Gomez, who has nearly 60 million followers, it’s most popular artist in the U.S. for 2023. Several other musicians also made the top 10, including Ice Spice, Natalie Jane, Lizzo, Ariana Grande and more. Gomez was also TikTok’s second-most popular artist worldwide, below Kim Loaiza but above Blackpink, Shakira and BTS.
Jennifer Lopez accepted her fifth Icon Award during Elle’s Women in Hollywood event and spoke about how she’s never won an Oscar or a Grammy during her acceptance speech. “I don’t have an Oscar. And I don’t have a Golden Globe. And I don’t have a Grammy or a SAG Award or a BAFTA or a Critics Choice or a Hollywood Film Award,” she said. “But this is my fifth Icon Award … This award is all about being a representative symbol, in this case, what it is to be a woman in Hollywood.”
