“I Had Some Help” by Post Malone and Morgan Wallen dropped this weekend and is already #1 on iTunes and the Apple Music charts . . . but fans are somewhat divided. And apparently Posty will be dropping a full-length country album later this year.
MTV will not be celebrating the best of pop culture this year. The network’s famous “Movie & TV Awards” show has been nixed — but it isn’t gone for good. TMZ reports that the annual event has been put on pause for this year but is expected to return in 2025 with an updated format.
“Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes” earned a domestic total of $56.5 million over the weekend at the box office. That’s on the top end of pre-release box office projections and just a step behind the unadjusted $56.2 million opening of “War for the Planet of the Apes” in 2017. “The Fall Guy” came second, with a $13.7 million haul.
A special to commemorate the 50th anniversary of “Saturday Night Live” is planned for February on NBC. The network is planning a celebratory weekend that culminates with a live primetime 3-hour special on Sunday, February 16, 2025.
“Defying Gravity: The Curtain Rises on Wicked”, a behind-the-scenes celebration of the upcoming movie “Wicked”, led by Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande, will air November 25 on NBC.
Sigourney Weaver is in discussions to join the cast of “The Mandalorian & Grogu,” the first “Star Wars” movie to hit theaters since 2019’s “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker”. It is unclear if Pedro Pascal will resume his role as Mandalorian ‘Din Djarin’ for the new film, which will be directed by “The Mandalorian” creator Jon Favreau.
Justin Bieber and wife Hailey apparently already have a name picked out for their baby. ‘People’ reports a source as saying that they have a name that they think is “perfect” and are already decorating a nursery.
The Killers’ 2004 debut single ‘Mr. Brightside’ is now the UK’s biggest-selling single never to reach #1. According to the Official Charts Company, the song’s 5.57 million combined sales and streams also make it the UK’s third biggest song of all time, surpassing Wham’s “Last Christmas”.
Creed singer Scott Stapp and his wife Jaclyn are divorcing after 18 years of marriage. He filed for divorce a year ago, and Jaclyn reportedly filed at least twice in the past, including in 2014 and in 2018, but withdrew documents each time. They have 3 kids.
‘Queen Rock Montreal’ will make its Disney+ debut on May 15 as the first film with Imax Enhanced sound by DTS. Imax Enhanced is supposed to allow you to feel the full dynamic range of music. The 1981 concert will premiere alongside 18 Marvel films also getting Imax Enhanced sound.
Katy Perry calls “Espresso” by Sabrina Carpenter the “best song in the world.” Katy says “‘I can’t relate to desperation’ is my favorite line. It says, ‘I don’t resonate with that low energy, that low-level energy’”. A few weeks ago, Katy shared a sweet video lip syncing video along to “Espresso” showing her changing outfits on the set of “American Idol”.
Brad Pitt’s upcoming “Formula One” movie has exceeded a $300 million budget, making it one of the most expensive films ever made, due to filming delays and the use of authentic race cars. Apple is in talks to acquire the film.
Yung Gravy is switching things up releasing his first-ever Country single, “Clementine”. The song dropped on Friday. “Clementine” features his laidback baritone vocals and signature swagger over an interpolation of Zac Brown Band’s timeless classic, “Chicken Fried”. “Clementine” will appear on Yung Gravy’s first-ever country project, “Serving Country”, arriving later this summer.
Yes, there is a Video Game Hall of Fame. Five games were just added for 2024, including one of the original arcade classics, Asteroids. Resident Evil also made it into the Hall of Fame. Myst, SimCity, and Ultima are in as well. Guitar Hero, Metroid, and Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater missed the cut this year.
Steve Buscemi was sucker-punched on Wednesday at 11:48 a.m. in New York City. Luckily he’s doing okay, and was treated for swelling in his face and left eye. His attacker hasn’t been caught.
