Elaine Merk Binder, one of the last surviving actors who played a Munchkin in the 1939 classic “The Wizard of Oz,” has died at age 94. Elaine auditioned for the movie in 1938 and was selected as one of the 8 children who would dance and sing as part of the Munchkin ensemble. She was just 8 years old while filming on the MGM lot.
Justin Bieber was announced as a headliner for next year’s Coachella, alongside Sabrina Carpenter, Karol G and more, but Bieber is making history. Rolling Stone says he’ll get $10 million U.S. for his performance at the California music and arts festival, more than anyone in history. Beyoncé was paid $8 million in 2018.
Soundgarden drummer Matt Cameron reports the group is about 70% done making a final album, featuring vocals recorded by the late Chris Cornell when the band were demoing the songs. Matt says, “It sounds killer and we’re really excited to finish it.”
The Cranberries have announced the first-ever standalone release of their “MTV Unplugged” performance. It will drop on vinyl, CD, and digital platforms on November 7. Disney and Lucasfilm unveiled a first trailer for the new “Star Wars” movie, “The Mandalorian and Grogu”! The film is a spinoff of Disney+’s “The Mandalorian” TV show and stars Pedro Pascal as The Mandalorian (a.k.a. Din Djarin), who travels the galaxy with his tiny ward Grogu (a.k.a. Baby Yoda). The film will hit theaters on May 22, 2026. Following it will be the Ryan Gosling-starring “Star Wars: Starfighter”, in theaters on May 28, 2027.
While OutKast might not get back together anytime soon, Big Boi and André 3000 want to celebrate the past. OutKast announced a 25th-anniversary deluxe reissue of their 2000 album “Stankonia” with new bonus tracks and cover art. The re-release will take place on October 31.
Travis Kelce has been fined for making an “obscene gesture” at a recent game. The incident occurred on September 14, when the Chiefs faced off against the Philadelphia Eagles at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Mo. Travis made the gesture after making a 23-yard reception. He ran excitedly down the Philly sideline while gesturing to his groin. The NFL announced that he had been fined $14,491 for unsportsmanlike conduct during the play.
RAYE is scheduled to perform in London during the NFL’s halftime show for the Minnesota Vikings vs. Cleveland Browns game on October 5. The game will mark the NFL’s first matchup hosted in London of the 2025-26 season, with two other games played across the pond scheduled for October 12 and 19. HUNTR/X’s “Golden,” from Netflix’s hit animated film “KPop Demon Hunters”, tops the Billboard Hot 100 for a sixth week, becoming the longest-leading No. 1 hit from a soundtrack in more than 10 years. “Golden” surpasses the 5-week chart-topping run in 2022 for the “Encanto” anthem, “We Don’t Talk About Bruno,” for the most weeks atop the chart for movie music this decade.
Production on “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” has stopped for one week after star Tom Holland sustained a mild concussion during filming Friday at Pinewood Studios in London. Tom was hospitalized for examination but not admitted following the stunt accident. No other cast or crew members were injured.
Jon Bon Jovi spoke out about becoming a first-time grandfather to the baby girl adopted by his son Jake and Millie Bobby Brown. The couple, who married last year, confirmed the adoption in August, calling it their “beautiful next chapter.” Jon said meeting the baby instantly made her “your grandchild, your baby.” He admitted he already asks for photos almost daily.
Netflix is developing a live-action version of the children’s book “Miss Nelson Is Missing”, with Melissa McCarthy in the lead role. The story, first published in 1977 by author Harry Allard and illustrator James Marshall, follows students who learn to value their teacher after facing Swamp’s tough classroom rules. The book has two sequels that could expand the series.
Netflix will debut a new true-crime documentary about Aileen Wuornos on October 30. The film, titled “Aileen: Queen of the Serial Killers”, examines Wuornos’ life and crimes, including the murders of 7 men in Central Florida between 1989 and 1990. The project features archival material, audio interviews, and never-before-seen death row footage. Wuornos was executed in 2002.
Daft Punk is bringing its music to Fortnite, but the duo is not reuniting. Epic Games announced that the in-game Daft Punk Experience begins September 27. The project is described as an immersive journey through the group’s catalog, featuring highlights from the “Alive” tour and the “Alive” 2007 album.
