Netflix has greenlighted an untitled spinoff chronicling the early life of a young Lady Violet and her romance with Viscount Edmund Bridgerton. The widowed Bridgerton family matriarch is played on the mothership series by Ruth Gemmell. Like “Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story”, the Violet prequel will be a limited series.

John Mayer has expanded his upcoming 2027 residency at Sphere in Las Vegas from an initial six shows to a total of 18 concerts, scheduled from April through June. This residency marks his first solo engagement at Sphere, following 48 performances with Dead & Company at the venue in 2024 and 2025.
James Patterson is teaming up with Arnold Schwarzenegger for a new novel that marks Arnie’s debut as a novelist. The actor, bestselling author, and 7-time Mr. Olympia will co-write “The Protector”, due out next fall. It follows a Catholic priest and military veteran who’s taken the helm at a parish plagued by “criminals threatening the community he’s vowed to protect, even as his courageous actions endanger his life, and reveal clues to his mysterious past.”
Jessica Biel has joined the cast of the upcoming film “Playmates”. She will star opposite Lily-Rose Depp, Bill Pullman, and Indiana Elle. The official logline for the show says “Elle, a 13-year-old know-it-all who considers the Playboy Mansion her second home, meets Anna, one of 7 hopefuls vying to be Playmate of the Month. The two form an unlikely friendship and try to help each other get what the other wants most, a magazine cover, and a boy.”
Colin Jost and Danny Chun are launching “6 Bed 1 Bath”, a new comedy series independently financed by Revue. The show follows five roommates sharing an apartment with a man who has lived there since 1982, adding bedrooms as his rent increased. It will stream free on ad-supported platforms. Executive producers include Scarlett Johansson.
Joe Rogan has renewed his multiyear licensing agreement with Spotify, extending a partnership that began in 2020. The Wall Street Journal reports Rogan will earn an estimated $250 million over the deal’s term. “The partnership with Spotify has been an amazing fit,” Rogan said. “JRE” ranked as the top podcast on Spotify, YouTube, and Apple Podcasts in 2025.
Scott Bakula is returning to CBS with an untitled detective procedural. The former “NCIS: New Orleans” star will also executive produce the L.A.-set series, currently in early development. Michael Sussman, his “Star Trek: Enterprise” collaborator, will write and executive produce. The show is described as quite a “leap” — a nod to his role in “Quantum Leap”.
HBO has greenlit a “Crazy Rich Asians” series, a follow-up to the 2018 hit film. Constance Wu, Henry Golding, Ronny Chieng, and Michelle Yeoh will reprise their roles. Film co-writer Adele Lim will serve as showrunner, with director Jon M. Chu and author Kevin Kwan executive producing. The eight-episode series begins filming in 2027.
