It’s been over ten years since Kellie Pickler was on “Idol”, and a lot has changed for her. Like, a lot. This story she told in an interview yesterday will give you a better idea . . .
Before “American Idol”, she was delivering burgers on roller skates at Sonic. So, the first time she’d ever been on a plane was in 2006, when she was 19 . . . to get to an Idol competition.
And when she was at the airport trying to find her gate, she went looking for an actual gate. Like, the white picket fence kind.
She even complained to the TSA, because she couldn’t see any gates. So, they had to help her.
She says she can laugh about how green she was now, because she’s 31 . . . and your priorities change as you get older, so you worry about different things.
In the new issue of Harper’s Bazaar, The Weeknd explains why it’s appealing for him to maintain some mystique. “I’m not in a rush to let people know everything about me,” he notes. “Mystery is always great.” He adds, “Luckily, the only thing the world demands of me is music. I don’t have to give them anything else for the rest of my life.” The 27-year-old Toronto native, whose real name is Abel Tesfaye, goes on to compare his public persona to David Bowie’s most famous alter ego. He also teases that he might do something similar. “Kind of like pulling a Ziggy Stardust,” he says. “Maybe I’ll retire from being the Weeknd. Or maybe I’ll just give him a break.”
Selena Gomez opens up in the latest issue of InStyle about the problems with her past romances and why her relationship with boyfriend The Weeknd is her best yet. “It’s really important for me to love and nourish my friends and family and to make sure that I never get influenced by a guy,” Selena explains. “I’ve wanted to be in a strong head space for years and I really wasn’t. Before, I was so young and easily influenced and I’d feel insecure. You want someone to add to your life, not to complete you.” She’s apparently found that match in The Weeknd, about whom she gushes, “I’m lucky because he’s more of a best friend than anything else.”
In other Selena news, when she checked herself into rehab for emotional issues and exhaustion last year, she really put in the work . . . and it was worth it.
She says, “I went away for 90 days, and it was the best thing that I ever could’ve done. I had no phone, nothing, and I was scared. But it was amazing, and I learned a lot.
“I was in the countryside and never did my hair; I took part in equine therapy, which is so beautiful. And it was hard, obviously. But I knew what my heart was saying, and I thought, ‘OK, I think this has helped me become stronger for other people.'”
Six weeks ago, Lindsay Lohan launched a subscription-based website that gave fans access to her beauty secrets and lifestyle tips for “just” $2.99 a month. People even claimed it could be “the next Goop.” But it appears that nobody is interested in spending their hard-earned money getting advice from Lindsay. According to my source, her most recent posts have an average of 14 likes. The record is 51, for a picture of her in an elevator. In comparison, Lindsay’s Instagram pictures routinely get more than 100,000 likes.
The New England Patriots celebrated the 40th birthday of their “GOAT” (Greatest Of All Time) quarterback Tom Brady by bringing five baby goats to training camp on Thursday. Fans in attendance were also allowed to write the five-time Super Bowl champ well wishes on a giant birthday card and pose in front of a mammoth “GOAT” sign set up in Brady’s honor. Brady’s wife Gisele Bundchen also celebrated her husband on Instagram, writing, “Over 10 years ago I fell in love with you because of your beautiful and sensitive heart. I love the sweetness in your essence. Today you are starting a big new chapter and I wish you so much happiness and fulfillment in all aspects of your life.”
Donnie Walberg shocked a young man by calling him on FaceTime after meeting his family members at one of his Wahlburgers restaurants this week. The New Kids on the Block singer, who is known for going above and beyond for his fans, shared a hilarious screenshot on Instagram of a guy covering his mouth in disbelief as Donnie grins at him.” This guy Nate didn’t believe his mom and uncle were meeting me at @Wahlburgers, so I facetimed him on her phone to prove it–his reaction was everything!” Donnie captioned the shot. “Nice to meet you too Nate! Good luck at grad school!”
With “Will & Grace” starting a second run next month, Sean Hayes admits that he regrets not coming out during the initial series. The show ran from 1998 to 2006 . . . and Sean didn’t come out until 2010.
He says, “I’ve become hopefully more self-aware about [myself and my] place in the world . . . I wasn’t ready to come out then.
“At the time, I didn’t have the DNA to speak for an entire community. I didn’t know how to do that, and I wish I did. But now I find words come easy.”
