Odds are if you were asked to find a notebook in your home you could. If asked to find a brick of blue cheese you might need to go to the store, but you could do it. However, if we asked you for a guy named Larry, could you bring us a guy named Larry?!

This Spring the New HOT 89.9 is rewarding your resourcefulness with the $25,000 Scavenger Hunt! Each weekday at 9am starting Friday April 4, the Morning HOT Tub with Mauler, Rush, Jenni and Brady will unveil a new item from our scavenger hunt list. There will be 15 items in total, that you’ll have to collect and bring them to HOT HQ on Saturday, April 26. The items will range from the basic to the bizarre. Be warned, this isn’t your momma’s scavenger hunt. If your 15 items are a match to our list, you’ll qualify for our grand prize draw of $25,000! Grand Prize winner announced on Monday April 28.

Participants must be available for item check on Saturday April 26. Participants will be contacted via email on Friday April 25 with instructions for the item verification process on April 26.

$25,000 Scavenger Hunt Items
All items will be returned to contestants after check in, except for item number 2. The signature documents will be shredded on site.

To streamline the check-in process we’ve assigned contestants time slots. They are listed below.
10a-12p: Last names A-G
12p-2p: Last names H-O
2p-4p: Last names P-Z

  1. A grain of rice with the word “tuba” written on it. Lowercase and Uppercase letters will be accepted.
  2. 899 signatures. All signatures must be original, from different people over the age of 18, and signed in pen ink. Photocopies, digitally reproduced and/or e-mail signatures will not be accepted). You can use your own signature for one of the entries. Signees must print first and last name along with the signature.
    Signatures must be collected on the official $25,000 Scavenger Hunt form, which can be downloaded HERE. (Please note, this form was updated on April 7 2025 at 2:30pm, and signee postal codes are no longer required. Sorry for the inconvenience)
  3. Ten (10) rakes. The kind you would use to rake leaves in your yard. Rakes may be metal, plastic, etc,. Hand rakes will not be accepted.
  4. One (1) Bean Bag Chair
  5. One (1) positive Human Pregnancy Test. (We will need the physical “urine-based” test, please put in a clear sealed plastic bag.)
  6. Put an “H” in front of the “Ottawa” sign in the ByWard Market to read “HOttawa” and take a picture. The “H” can be any size, written on paper, made of construction paper, bristol board, etc., or made with people. (You the contestant, must be included in the picture). Picture can be shown to the judges via your phone.
  7. Original 1990’s concert ticket stub from an Ottawa venue. (Tickets from Jan. 1 1990-Dec. 31 1999 will be accepted). Must bring the physical ticket.  (No pictures, photocopies, computer printouts, etc)
  8. A Daniel Alfredsson Ottawa Senators hockey jersey. Must be a licensed NHL jersey. T-Shirt, hoodies, etc. won’t count.
  9. A copy of Gladiator (2000) on DVD. Disc must be an official release, not a DVD-R (or some other homemade version) with the movie on it. VHS and Blu-ray copies won’t count.
  10. Twins! Specifically two human twins. Twins must have identification proving they have the same date of birth.
  11. A Blackberry cell phone (any model). Phone does not need to be charged/functional.
  12. A social media post created by the contestant and posted by 11:59pm today (April 22, 2025) announcing you are playing in the $25,000 Scavenger Hunt with The New Hot 89.9! The New Hot 89.9 must be tagged (@newhot899), and you must receive a minimum of 89 comments from unique users by 10am on April 26th, 2025. (Only posts on Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, or X/Twitter will be accepted. Post must be shown on your phone to our staff on April 26. Your account does not need to be public. We will not handle your phone at check-in).
  13. One Canadian Penny dated 2003.
  14. Twenty-five (25) individual and authentic pizzeria take-out menus from different pizza restaurants. (Can’t be printed from website, must be physical menu/flyer provided from restaurant.)
  15. You (the contestant) must wear a robot costume to the check in on April 26. Costume can be homemade (we encourage it!)
